20120830 Colins Hope Got2Swim
What an amazing organization dedicated to the prevention of child drowning as well as water safety programs for kids. I had the pleasure of shooting the Colins Hope ( http://www.colinshope.org) Got2Swim event today where roughly 18 swimmers with support crews embarked on a NINE mile swim to celebrate what would have been Colin's 9th birthday, and another 38+/- additional swimmers/crews embarking on their FOUR mile swim, all in an effort to raise funds for the organization. I was moved by the story, moved by the athletes and moved by the support crews.
The images begin with the start of the nine mile swimmers and support crews at Emma Long park, and follow the swimmers, their support crews and other volunteers down the lake until their arrival at the Pennybacker/Loop 360 bridge. There, the nine mile swimmers arrive as the four mile swimmers/support crews are departing. The final grouping of shots was taken at the boat landing down by Hula Hut. The objective was to capture the entire event start to finish and provide images of the swimmers, crews, support folks and emotions.
